5) Transportation Master Plan to be presented at Council meeting, Tuesday Nov. 3.
https://www.cityofkingston.ca/documents/10180/8660917/COU_A1115-15175.pdf/103639db-b87a-4d3c-a4b9-b4ed6ad1aa63
Serious problems with this plan include:
a) incorrect and consequently misleading data in basic trail maps indicating trails that do not exist!,
b) inadequate targets for transit and alternative modes of transportation.  Targets in the plan do not reflect the changing lifestyles of the millennials the city wishes to attract. (Millennials have too much student debt to buy cars for 5 – 20 years). Similarly the lack of alternative modes does not reflect the current downtown demographic that believes in the importance of pedestrianizing the downtown and using alternatives to single-ownership cars.
c) The report remains at odds with the priorities expressed in the official plan.
Because of these (and other) serious failings it is our considered opinion that the plan should be rejected. Have a look and decide for yourself.

6) The second draft of the Five Year Update to the Official Plan is posted on the City of Kingston website.  Hard copies can be viewed at the Central, Calvin Park, Kingscourt, Isabel Turner and Pittsburg branches of the Public Library and at City Hall and the 1211 John Counter Blvd offices. Written submissions welcome.
